Origin Story

Every toy needs
a city to live in.

The idea started with a pile of untouched toy cars. A child who had dozens of them — miniatures, trains, action figures — but nowhere for them to go. They'd get played with once, then boxed away. Not because the toys were boring. Because the world they needed didn't exist yet.

"What if the block itself was the city — and the child was the giant who built it?"

Small blocks kept the child outside the scene — always watching, never inside. We wanted a block big enough to step into. Big enough to climb. Big enough that when you stand back, you've built something that feels like a real skyline.

That's how Rotown Block began — not from a product brief, but from a missing piece of the floor.

Make the child the giant
Body-scale blocks so kids step inside their creation, not around it.

Four cities printed on four faces — spin the block, change the continent.
03
Move and think together
Lifting, placing, deciding — body and mind working in the same moment.

We build toys the way city planners build cities — with intention, with room to grow, and with the belief that the people inside them will make it come alive.

Vision

A world where every child's bedroom floor is a city — and every city is theirs to redesign.

Timeline / How It Got Here

From a single pile of toy cars
to a city on your floor.

2022 The question that started everything

Why do toy cars get played with once, then boxed away? The answer turned out to be simple: the toys existed, but the city they needed didn't.

2023 First prototype — city as big as the child

The first foam block rolled out of a workshop in Seoul. When the test child climbed on top rather than just stacking it, we knew the scale was right. The city had to be big enough to live in — not just look at.

Early 2024 Four cities, one spin

The rotating-face system locked in: New York, Rome, Shanghai, Seoul — all printed on four sides of every block, in the same sequence. Spin the city and the world changes. No rebuild required.

Mid 2024 A second player enters — grandparents

Testing revealed an unexpected pattern: grandparents were the ones sitting on the side, directing where each block should go. The blocks were light enough to hand over, heavy enough to feel real. A dual-task play loop — one thinks, one moves — emerged naturally. We stopped designing it out.

2025 Kickstarter launch — the city opens to the world Now

Rotown Block is heading to Kickstarter — the first global batch, four cities on every block, built for every age. If you've been waiting for a city worth building, this is it.

The Builders

Every city needs
an architect.

Rotown Block was built by people who believed the floor could be a city — and that the best toy is one that makes every toy better.

Started with a pile of toy cars and one question: why does imagination need to stop at the edge of a mat? Built Rotown Block to give every toy a city to come home to.

Shaped the four-city face system — so that one block turned is an entirely different world. Every corner radius, every foam density, designed to survive a giant.
